The church really holds this story up as true proof of faith (as well they should), so we've been over and over it (at least I know I have). <BR/><BR/>The part where it says that Abraham loved Isaac, is the first time the word 'love' is used in the bible. The intended emphasis is that God is asking Abraham if he will trust God with that which he loves the most. I definitely struggle with trust...even (maybe sometimes even especially?) in areas where God has proved Himself faithful over and over again. Faith, trust, surrender...wow.
